Effective Therapy

Williamsville Wellness provides an integrated approach to the process of recovery from compulsive gambling. Our staff of a psychiatrist, psychologists, counselors, addiction/relapse therapist physical fitness training.and peer counselors, is complemented by specialists who conduct hypnosis, deep clinical massage, and personal art therapist.

Our primary emphasis is on an individualized treatment approach. Our therapy is specifically designed to fit the needs of each individual client. For this reason alone, many of our clients travel from around the country and the world to receive the help they need.staff.htm
We have learned that the most successful approach to helping compulsive gamblers is through an individualized treatment plan, one-on-one therapy, with a strong family component. As many gambling addictions are but a symptom of an underlying problem, this allows the gambler to share the deep, and potentially painful events that led to an existence of isolation, boredom and loneliness. Seeking relief through gambling helped in the beginning, but eventually led to the gambling addiction, fraught with the many new problems brought on by this insidious psychiatric disorder. .
Combined with therapy for the gambler’s family, educational groups, Gamblers Anonymous meetings and aftercare, we find that our approach creates a treatment regimen that offers the best chance for recovery.
The typical length of the program is four weeks, but those with prior mental health counseling may find that three weeks is sufficient. Others, those suffering from severe depression, suicidal plans, additional addictions or psychiatric disorders may find that more time spent in treatment is necessary for long-term success.
We limit the number of patients to 8. This allows for more individualized and family therapy, getting to know each other better, and finding additional support as the recovery continues.
